Workshop Report (series 2) Of Building Information Modelling (BIM) Roadmap For Malaysia’s Construction Industry.
BIM Steering Committee that sitting on 26th September 2013 organised by CIDB has suggested to develop a Malaysia BIM Roadmap in order to foster the construction industry towards broader adoption of BIM by 2020.
In conjunction with that, the Subcommittee of BIM Roadmap was formed to formulate a strategic plan for BIM implementation in Malaysia. The Subcommittee of BIM Roadmap gathered expertise from government entities, stakeholders, professional bodies, institutes and academia.
This report summarizes the activities and outcomes from the subcommittee meeting (one meeting) and workshops (2 workshops) in developing the BIM roadmap. On 16th December 2013, the first workshop that moderated by Sime Darby was held at Sime Darby Convention Center, Bukit Kiara. The workshop aimed to explore the three major elements of roadmap development which were the industrial stakeholders’ motivations of BIM implementation, key milestone and key performance indicator (KPI) platform. The focus nevertheless was given on the motivations of the stakeholders. The motivations are crucial to be identified so that the BIM implementation can be aligned between satisfying the national agenda with operational needs, which are driven by the industrial stakeholders.
